  • Snooker’s has 9 tables and they usually spread $50 – $200 and $200 – $500. They run tournaments every day and they always seem to be packed.

Unlike Sunnybrook, a new player must post the BB if he/she wants to play immeadiately. Also if you miss your blind you will have to post both the big and dead small like a casino. The feature tables have really nice chairs that are very comfortable. However, they went with cheaper chairs for the other tables that make you feel like a little kid at the adult’s table.

Overall the room is run pretty efficently and the dealers are all very nice. I have not seen any major problems from the players or mistakes made by the staff. The bad beat is really nice but it is very hard to hit since the minimum is aces full of kings beaten by quads. The nice part is that they do not take a rake for the bad beat. Every game I’ve been in has had the right mix of players so the games haven’t been to tight or to loose.

There is a full service bar and kitchen with some very good smelling food. Also from time to time Don will buy pizza for the entire room and keep them coming until everyone is satified. A very nice bonus and smart move.

  • I’m quite the fan of the snookers poker room. I started going when they opened and the games have only improved since then. They actually just expanded the hours all week long to noon-2am with a free lunch if you are there between noon and one. Rake is standard although the rake on tourneys is 20% which is a bit harsh. The games are pretty loose tho, give the place a try.

  • Snookers now has the nice chairs at every single table which is awesome if your strictly a tournament player. The state forces every poker room to take at least 20% on the tournaments so thats understandable. Their cash game rake is $5 instead of the usual 6 which to me is great because its hard enough to beat the rake as it is and I want as much money on the table as possible. If you get there before 1 pm than you do get free lunch which is a plus. I’d rate this room the highest in this area.

  • Nice Poker Room. I got stuck sitting next to some smelly guy who was a horrible poker player. Besides that loser, everyone was very nice and friendly.

  • Nice room but, unfortunate it’s run by crooked people. The room has been shut down once by the State of Michigan for negative reasons and I don’t think they’ve learned their lesson. I think they charities and dealers are going to get screwed in the long run. Look into why they were closed in the first place.

Why do you think they offer tons of free food? Not because they want to or to be nice, because they got caught and need to try to keep reeling in the customers. It’s all a smokescreen and it’s working. Do you really think they learned their lesson? I don’t think so, I think it makes for a smarter cheater!

  • I don’t understand how they’re cheating?? can you please elaborate? in poker the house takes a rake and I understand them taking that. I also figured thats why they were doing the free lunch for cash players before 1 pm. so how am I, as a regular 4 day a week customer there being cheated? I would love to call them out on it if I knew what was going on.

  • snookers is great the 100 dollar tourney on the first sunday of every month is great, i dont know why some1 said that 20% rake on tournament is harsh…… 80% is the maximum payout that the state allows for “charity” poker rooms.

  • I was a volunteer for a charity one weekend at Snookers…Don was very nice, but he breaks the rules EVERY DAY. They forced us to keep selling chips even though we were OVER the $15,000 limit! The floor manager would come by and take the laptop they provided us which had our game record forms on it…these forms are only to be touched by the charity…and I SAW the guy editing our records…?! I also saw workers touching cash and accepting tips, which im pretty sure breaks 2 more rules.
This room is impressive, but i dont think it will be around very long being they break the state rules EVERY DAY.

  • Are you sure they were still going over even with 5 charities a day now?? I know the state was supposed to have taken care of the workers and tipping but as with everything, they are going at a snail pace.

  • I have played there a few times and overall I like the room and staff, however it wouldn’t surprise if there is something a little shady going on. My friend placed 2nd the last time we went and he was only paid $300 while 1st paid over twice that at around $640 and 6th paid around $100. We called later to ask about the payout structure and tourny rake fees and the manager acted short and offended and gave us a shady answer, which went something like “We are aloud to take anywhere from %20 to %80.” I’ve played at a few other charity rooms and I have asked these types of questions and I was given a clear and polite answer. If I go again I will ask ahead of time what the rake and payouts are for the tourny that day and then use the buy in and number of entrants to check their worthiness.

In conclusion, I do like the room as a whole, just not sure about their integrity.

  • I play in a bunch of their tourney’s every week. probably at least 3-4 times a week. they make em top heavy with a simple formula. if theyre payin top 5- the payout percentages are 42-25-15-10-8. I know don only takes 20 percent because i did the math before a few times to make sure it balanced out and it did.

  • I am very suspicious of the Carlo comment above. He sounds like a disgruntled ex employee or something.

My charity has had 2 events there and everything was strict and well organized. We were told exactly how to record transactions and monitor our till. Except for being very busy, things went smooth and we had our 2 biggest fund raising nights ever for our charity.

  • I’ve been playing at snookers since it opened the poker room. I’ve played at several other locations and I find that this location is very organized and has the most structure. Don, the owner is well respected by his staff and all that enter the doors of Snookers. I enjoy going to the Snookers location to play Texas Hold Em as I can always count on the game to begin promptly and each table follows the exact rules of the game.

  • Said call, was dropped $30 off of the bottom of my stack, and the dealer forces me to go all in because I was counting off the bottom of my stack past the line.

This place is unreal, on a power trip, whatever you like to call it. Love the free food, but seriously unreal. I will never go again. And yes, they break rules constantly. I’d love to see them shut the F— down. Especially because the floors an idiot and a useless dick. Decisions are always in the favor of the room, not the customers, time after time.

Yes, we’ve had some good experiences (I haven’t), but for those of us who have seen the worst of it, it’s enough to want to keep us out of there for good.

  • This place is crooked. They’ve been shut down more than once in the time they’ve been operating (you can look it up on the charitable gaming website michigan.gov/cg, and look at the Highlights articles). Don is nice, but our charity will NOT do another event here after the crookedness and way we were treated. The floor people are RUDE, dealers shout at you and are RUDE, and players think they are the boss or something, extremely rude and impatient.
Being Don and this poker room make several $100,000s a year, you would think everyone would be happy here, and they would treat people a little better?

Maybe pay your dealers and floor people a little more, and you would have charities that are happier? Piss poor, everything about Snookers is a disgrace.

    • Really Rick, I think you just suck at poker or your one of those people who are just miserable all the time, never saw rules being broken EVER…..used to work a Bingo Hall for a politician….now there was some rule breaking.. The dealers are very happy from what I have witnessed..you charity people better wake up……its the people Don brings to that room and how they are treated is why they return to fund your charity so your kid can play ball, play football, feed veterans and whatever else your “non profitable” organizations do with the money we give you, for free. Hell when I was a girlscout I never sold $15K a night in cookies and my dad was a factory rat!

  • I play at Snookers, love the room and pretty much most of the cash game dealers run a good table. They always have a game going at anytime of the day, and the new 9 foot cash tables are great, lots of room even for the bigger build players. Try them out and i think you will be impressed.

  • I’ve played at Snookers in Utica perhaps 25 times. There will always be a learning curve until a new dealer becomes an very good one, so I have not expected perfection from the newer ones. The ones with longer tenure know how to run an organized, amiable table. The place has the best poker room atmosphere around in my mind, but I haven’t been to a lot of them. Maybe Cada’s Room is also good. I have always thought the floor is run very professionally with the floor boss, usually being one of 2 guys who look like brothers, always acting very welcoming, asking how you have been if they have seen you before. Sure they have a motive, they want you to keep coming back. I’ve heard the owner is a generours man , one who has raised a helped charities raise a lot of money. That is a lot better in my mind than a charity room that had to close down because of lack of traffic, usually caused by other problems. If they’ve broken some rules along the way, I doubt that theve’ve hurt the players more than negligibly. You talk to insiders at any business and you will find there are few actaul saints running finanically successful enterpriese. There are just too many people to please and you have to break some one’s rules to please the other guy. Until I see something very distasteful that I think has become policy, I plan to continue frequenting the place. Where else do 120 to 150 people show up for a tournament? I’d rather win something meaningful than play for $400 amoungst 20-30 people.
